The San Jose Giants, a Low-A minor league team of the San Francisco Giants play at Excite Stadium in San Jose. The stadium was built in 1942 and seats 4,200. The Giants were playing the Modesto Nuts, Seattle Mariners affiliate, losing 12-7. The Box Score was Nuts R-12, H-13, E-5 and Giants R-7, H-12, E-1. The field lines are RF-320', RC-365', CF-390', LC-365', LF-320'. Game temperature was 80 degrees. The field is grass. The infield is drug several times during the game. It would appear that it is not wet down enough before the start of the game as it became very dusty early, especially the home plate area. There are seats in the first eight rows and bleachers with back from row 9 to 18. Rows 17 & 18 on the 1st base side give shade from awnings during day games. Late afternoon games the shade extends down a few more rows and then into the seating later in the game. There were two umpires and a pitch clock. The Nuts Beer Batter struck out twice to the delight of the fans because they got beer for 1/2 price. The left side of the scoreboard shows how much time is left to get the 1/2 price beer. The Nuts had two 2 run homeruns in the 4th and 5th innings. Colt Emerson #4 for the Nuts is a high level prospect for the Mariners. He is shown batting in the next picture after the scoreboard information about him. The mascot is Gigantes. Lenn Sakata #14 was the second Asian American to play in the major leagues as a untility infielder and was a Baltimore Orioles 1983 World Series Championship team. I can't find any referenct for Mark Wilson. Attendance was 1,313 and the game lasted to 3hours 2 minutes. We saw only one other Mariner's fan present sitting on the 3rd base side keeping score. Several between inning activities: kids-racing the mascot, kids-musical chairs, kid-hocky puck shooting against the mascot, and adults-playing 21 with huge cards. Kids run the bases at the end of the game. We had a large hotdog on a soft bun for $9, a good price.
