The Fayetteville Woodpeckers, a team in the Carolina league and Single A affiliate of the Houston Astros, play at Segra Stadium. The stadium opened in 2019 and seats 4,600 fans. The Woodpeckers beat the Down East Wood Ducks of Kinston, NC 8-1. The box score was Wood Ducks R-1, H-5, E-3, Woodpeckers R-8, H-6, E-0. The field lines are RF-330', RCF-382', CF-400', LCF-372', LF-319'. You can walk around the park. There are suites on the 200 level, with the broadcast booth on the third base side. Both bull pens are in left field. There is a berm in left field with a children's play area beyond it. There is a train track behind the third baseline with Amtrak and freight service. Three trains passed during the game. The mascot is Bunker named after General Matthew Bunker Ridgway. Between inning activities: 1. Sizzle Cam-hold out arms and wiggle fingers; 2. Smarter than 5th grader 3 questions for adult and 5th grader; 3. T-Shirt Toss-shirt has sponsor name on back & words T-Shirt Toss. I attended game with niece, her son and baby daughter. |

AIRBORNE AND SPECIAL OPERATIONS MUSEUM features life-size dioramas, rare aircraft, artifacts and interactive displays that celebrate this special sector of the armed forces. Five main exhibits allow visitors to ''jump'' from Aug. 16, 1940-the date of the U.S. Army Parachute Test Platoon's first leap-to the World War II, Cold War, Vietnam and post-Vietnam eras. Included among the impressive air-craft collection are a C-47 plane, Waco CG-4A glider and UH-1 helicopter. |
