The Dayton Cubs, a Single A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, play in Jackie Robinson Stadium, built in 1930 with seating for 4,000. This stadium was the site of the first racially integrated pro baseball game, a spring training game, March 17, 1946. The Jack is the 3rd oldest Minor League Baseball ballpark (grandstands) in the US, and has the oldest playing surface. The Daytona Cubs have been a member of the Florida State League longer than any other team. The game was between the Brooklyn Dodgers, Robinson's team, and the Montreal Royals. The first two rows are reserved and all other seats are general admission. This is stadium with obstructing posts behind home and down the first base line. On the third base line are bleachers with out backs. The Cubs were playing the Tampa Yankees. The Cubs starting pitcher gave up 9 runs in the first three innings. He was pulled in the 5th after one home run. The final score was Tampa 10 and Cubs 4. The box score was Yankees R-10, H-8, E-2 and Cubs R-4, H-6, E-6. The field lines are RF-325', CF-400', and LF-317". Tonight was all you can eat night. The usual General Admission price is $5, tonight it was $10. The $10 cost covered all you wanted to eat of the following items: hot dog, hamburger, nachos, pizza, popcorn, coke, and water. Beer was $1.00, apparently last year the beer was free, but so much was used it broke the budget. There was a wait for many of the items because so much was being eaten that there was some complaining. I wasn't concerned what do you want for essentially free food. The team GM came out near the end of the game and apologized for the waits. He said it would not happen again and told everyone that they could come to another game in April for free by just showing tonight's game ticket. The program is a calendar. filled with information about the team and the schedule. The mascot is Cubby. New Logo 2012. 2015 affiliated with Cincinnati and become the Tortugas. 2021--Affiliated with Cincinnati. Low A playing in the Southeast League, North Division.
