The South Bend Silver Hawks, a Single A affiliate of Arizona, play at Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium which was built in 1987 with seating for 5,000. Stanley Coveleski, a local pitcher, pitched for four different major league teams between 1912-1928. During this time he amassed 214 victories, 981 strikeouts, and won 20 or more games five times. He then pitched or managed local teams. The Silver Hawks are named after the Studebaker automobile "Silver Hawk" that was built across the street from the stadium. The concessions are located behind the seating area with the broadcast area and suites located at concourse level between 1st and 3rd bases. The stadium has some covered area down the baselines which was important for most of the fans. The weather was partly cloudy before the game. At 7:00pm, just before the game start, a rain shower moved across the stadium providing for a 55 minute rain delay. As soon as it started to rain lightly we moved from our seats behind homeplate to the covered bleacher seats on the 3rd base side. There are seats within the bases, bleachers with backs down each line, a grassy area on both sides to the foul poles, and a party area, Bull Pen Bar & Grill, behind the 1st base grass area. The Silver Hawks were playing the Kane County Cougars. The game went into extra innings and the Silver Hawks lost in the 12th inning by a score of 7-2. The box score was Cougars R-7, H-13, E-2 and Silver Hawks R-2, H-9, E-3. The field lines are RF & LF-336', RC & LC-360', and CF-405'. The mascot is Swoop. The Honey Do Construction sponsored Fast Pitch Softball team went on the field with the Silver Hawks players for the national anthem. The 12-14 year-old girls are from Fish Lake, IN. They were ready to go on the field when the rain started, so they were able to go into the dugout with the players to wait it out. There is an excellent set of plaques in the concourse area for those local sports figures who have been selected to the local Hall of Fame. Attendance was 4,891 for the Thirsty Thursday game. 8oz beers, hot dogs, and 12oz sodas were $1. 2014 Four Winds Field.
