Rainout Number 4, two in a row. The weather pattern over NE Pennsylvania, Northern New Jersey, and New York City stopped several games today. We stopped by the ballpark on our way to Newton from Scranton Wilkes-Barre. It was not raining when we arrived, so I took some pictures. We talked with Herm Sorcher, Asst. GM for a short time. We appreciate the complimentary tickets, but are sorry we could not use them. Before we finished our lunch in the parking lot it started raining. The weather bureau began sending out flood watches and warnings for the area later in the afternoon. The New Jersey Cardinals play in Skylands Park which was built in 1994. Nice little stadium painted in barn red paint. Concession areas on the outside of the stadium. There is a community facility with batting cages, minature golf, and pool tables adjacent to the ball field called "The Barn." The Cardinals have the Rally Cow, see picture, that is brought out to get the team and crowd going. They have some type of promotion at every game. While I was taking pictures the grounds crew was getting ready to dump the tarp, so I had them pose for a picture. 2006 the team moved to State College PA and became the State College Spikes. The New Jersey Jackals of the Canadian-American Independent League started playing here in 2006. 2021--Can-Am League folds and Can-Am teams become part of the Independent Frontier League.
