The Eugene Emeralds, a Single A affiliate of San Diego, play at Memorial Stadium, which was built in 1938. We bought general admission seats and were glad we had our seat cushions with built-in backs. At least the bleachers were painted, so we didn't have to worry about slivers. You could smell the wood of the stadium and seating. The stadium is J-shaped with the top of the J down the right field line. It was cloudy and 68 degrees at game time, dropping to 60 degrees by game's end. The Emeralds were playing the Everett Aquasox. We were quietly rooting for the Aquasox, but the Emeralds won 9-0. The Aquasox pitchers were bad and the Emeralds starting pitcher was outstanding. There were 2,857 fans at the game. The field dimensions are LF-335', RF-328, and no distance shown for center field. No mascot. The family pictured was there to support their son on the Emeralds team. They were going to follow the team to Vancouver BC and return to Eugene. New Logo 2010. New Stadium in 2011.
