The Eugene Emeralds, a Single A affiliate of San Diego, play at PK Park at the athletic complex for the University of Oregon. PK Park is named after former Oregon athletic director Pat Kilkenny, whose donations helped to fund the stadium. The stadium opened in 2010 seating 4,000. It is all Field Turf except for the pitching mound and batting circle around homeplate. The Emeralds were playing the Everett Aquasox and lost 5-4. Box score was Aquasox R-5, H-9, E-0 and Emeralds R-4, H-9, E-1. The field lines are RF-325', RC-376', CF-400', LC-375', and LF-335'. Seating is all seats except for 3 sections of no back bleachers down the third baseline. There are 8 suites with 4 on each side of the announcing area. There is a Kid's Zone at the end of the 3rd baseline. The bullpens are in RC field and LC field. The scoreboard has white letters and is difficult to read during a day game especially in the late afternoon. The is a small scoreboard beyond right field hanging under a building. Very good food selection, but only one area for general baseball food. Sluggo is the mascot and there is a very large blow-up Sluggo outside of the stadium entrance. Many between inning activities. Two teams make a huge hamburger, two ride bouncing horses named Chip & Dale, there is a Taco Bell taco race, Sasquatch makes a dancing appearance in right field, children throw a large ball through the hole to win a sundae, and two teams, boys throwing simulated crabs into a bucket tied to their father's front while father have to crabwalk back and forth to catch the crabs. There is an osprey nest on one of the light poles for adjacent Autzen Stadium (football). Affiliated with Chicago Cubs in 2015. 2021--Affiliated with San Francisco. High A play in the West League. |
