The Binghamton Mets, a Double A affiliate of the New York Mets, play at NYSEG (New York State Electric and Gas) Stadium which was built in 1992, seating 6,012. The stadium has all blue seats. There is a picnic area down the third base line. There is some covered seating behind homeplate. The Mets were playing the New Britain Rock Cats. The Rock Cats beat the Mets 9-6. The box score was Rock Cats R-9, H-11, E-0 and the Mets R-6, H-9, and E-2. The field lines are RF & LF-330' and CF-400'. Before the game the Berkshire Rookies team from the Baseball Players Association in Binghamton went on the field with the Mets players. The team of 12 and under boys are sponsored by George Hoffmeier Construction. The team has two mascots--Buddy the Bee and Ballwinkle. Both were moving through the fans all during the game. The home bullpen sits behind a window in the right field corner. There were big pots of summer flowers scattered around the aisles and the concourse. During one of the later inning breaks kids got to run across the field from left field to right field. Attendance for the game was 2,268. Wee Willie Keeler was a very famous early baseball player and is featured in the Binghamton Wall of Fame. 2017 name change to Rumble Ponies with new logo. 2021--Affiliated with New York Mets.
