The Mobile Bay Bears, a Double AA affiliate of San Diego, play at Hank Aaron Field. The field is named for Hank Aaron because he was born and raised in Mobile. Mobile has had five Hall of Fame player natives, see photo. The field is nice and was built in 1997 with seating for 6,000 and with suites at the field level. It would appear that a roof was added because the supports block some seats. The Bay Bears were playing the Orlando Rays. The Bay Bears got ahead on an impressive 3 run homer way out on the left field berm, then held on to win 6-5. The box score was Rays R-5, H-10, E-2 and Bay Bears R-6, H-11, E-0. The field lines are RF-310', CF-400', and LF-325'. The attendance was 3,671 with many staying for the fireworks. There were 2 mascots: Beach Bear-brown and Baby Bear-gray. Bay Bear was not present tonight. There are 20 suites at field level, stadium club seating (super box seats) is the 1st four rows on the upper level and behind the dugouts and down the lines on the field level. The program did not include a scorecard. You had to pay extra to get a scorecard which is normally included with a program. Note American flag and yellow ribbons painted on the field. 2007 affiliate of Arizona Diamondbacks. New logo 2012.
