The Springfield Cardinals, an AA affiliate of St. Louis, play at Hammonds Field which opened in 2005 and seats 6,750. It is a nice new stadium which allows you to walk around the outfield. The Cardinals were playing the Tulsa Drillers and won 10-3. The box score was Drillers R-3, H-6, E-1 and Cardinals R-10, H-14, E-1. The field lines are RF-330', CF-400', LF-315'. There is paid parking directly across the street. Many fans park on the street or in business lots near the stadium. Louie, the cardinal, is the mascot. They have a Yahoo advertisement involved with the pitch speed display. The angle of the seating is steep enough that you are not blocked by fans in front of you. Walking in through the main entrance you are at concourse level, so the field is in a bowl below you. Daniel Holdge, Sport Director, of KSPR-TV was taping the game. He asked Jim why he was taking pictures, which lead to a conversation about the Baseball Road Trip. Later during the game, Daniel and Whitney Scott, Sports Anchor/Reporter, taped an interview of Jim about the trip. We had several conversations about Springfield baseball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball with fans sitting around us. 2021--Affiliated with St. Louis. AA playing in the Central League, North Division.
