The El Paso Chihuahuas, a Triple A affiliate of San Diego, play at Southwest University Park, which opened this year--2014, seating 9,245. This stadium is typical of the newer stadiums with views of the field from the main concourse level. There are two levels of suites and a grass berm in centerfield. The Chihuahaus were playing the Sacramento River Cats and lost 6-1. The box score was River Cats R-6, H-10, E-1 and Chihuahuas R-1, H-5, E-1. The field lines are RF- 322', RC-384', CF-406', LC-392', LF-324'. Fence height is RF-15'2", CF-8', LF-22'6". The center field fence is not straight, but has an interesting bump out to allow for more seating on the berm. There was a rain delay that started at 8:08 pm with the tarp off at 9:13 pm and game restart at 9:16 pm. The home bullpen is down the 3rd baseline. The visitor bullpen is in right center under the scoreboard building. There are a number of party areas including the righthand building in right field. A rainbow is shown before the start of the storm. Chico is the mascot. Bring a big appetite if you want to purchase the burger basket shown on the screen. I don't usually include bathroom humor. Many different between inning activities. In this one two teams competed to pass the hula hoop from one end to the other and then back again. The grounds crew is putting out the tarp. The wind almost took it away from them. After the rain delay they had to pick it up an then roll it up. The ground crew does a brief dance when dragging the infield in the bottom of the 6th. Lots of between inning advertising on the big screen. The $7 lemonade had a lot of lemons in it. Parking in the adjacent convention center is only $7. 2021--Affiliated with San Diego, AAA playing in the West League, East Division.
