The Tacoma Rainiers, a Triple A affiliate of Seattle, play at Cheney Stadium which was built in 1960. As an older stadium it has good sight lines with no poles holding up the roof within the baselines. Seating is plastic seats and bleachers with backs. When they put in the plastic seats they left an old section of wooden seats in the area around the statute of Mr. Cheney. The Rainiers were playing the Salt Lake Bees and lost 4 to 1. The box score was Bees R-4, H-9, E-0 and Rainiers R-1, H-6, E-0. The field lines are RF & LF-325', RC & LC-350'-385', and CF-a deep 425'. I attended this game because Cliff Lee, Mariners starter, was making a rehab start. He did very well and reported back to Seattle. There are bleachers with backs down the first baseline. There is a party tent down the first baseline and a four deck party area down the third baseline. The announcing area is on the top of the roof. The mural shows the uniforms of the different teams that the Tacoma team has been affiliated with since 1960. The light standards are from the San Francisco Seals stadium. Rhubarb is the mascot and lost the usual mascot race. The video screen race is a race down Mt. Rainier on snowboards with Rhubarb and two humans. New logo 2010.
