The Orange County Flyers, a team in the independent Golden Baseball League (GBL), play at Goodwin Field located at Cal State Fullerton. The stadium seats 3,500. Their coach is Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter who grew up in Fullerton. The field lines are RF-330', RC-385', CF-?, LC-385', LF-330'. The Flyers were playing the Chico Outlaws and were the victors winning 11-9. The box score was Outlaws R-9, H-13, E-1 and Flyers R-11, H-14, E-3. This was one of the longest 9 inning games we have attended, finishing after 3 hours and 42 minutes. The Flyers starter lasted for only one inning due to back problems. The Mascot is a wolf named Coal Train. The usual cheer is a wolf howl. 2011 not operational when GBL mergers into North American League. Did not reorganize in 2011. |
