The Danville Braves, an Appalachian Rookie League affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, play at American Legion Post 325 Field at Dan Daniel Memorial Park. The stadium was built in 1993 seating 2,558. A really nice amenity, added last year, are ceiling fans in the covered reserved seating area. Even though is was quite warm we felt cool watching the game. The Braves were playing the Greeneville Astros and lost a close one 3-2. The score was tied 1-1 into the 10th when the Astros scored 2. The box score was Astros R-3, H-5, E-2 and Braves R-2, H-3, E-0. The field lines are RF & LF-330', CF-400'. Blooper 1/2 is the mascot. The Chick-Fil-A ads are always funny. If you don't want to pay to watch the game you can always stand on top of the hill in center field as we saw a couple of guys doing. Jim talked with the General Manager and found out that Atlanta owns all of its minor league teams except Myrtle Beach. New logo in 2010. |
