North Dakota Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center
Washburn, ND
The Interpretive Center documents the legendary journey of Lewis and Clark. The excellent exhibits emphasize the Corps' winter at Fort Mandan and cover the entire trip as well. See a rare complete set of Karl Bodmer prints of paintings he made as hired artist for German Prince Maximillian's 1833 trip up the Missouri. There is an excellent exhibit telling about smallpox and how it affected the Indians along the Missouri River.
