Lewis & Clark Decision Point
Marias River
Loma, MT
At the confluence of the Marias-Missouri Rivers the Corps' biggest internal disagreement occured. Which river should be taken to continue the journey? After several days of exploration up both rivers and with most of the men preferring the Marias, Lewis & Clark made the command decision that the river to the left was the true Missouri and the route that would be taken. Several days later they were proved right when Lewis found The Great Falls of the Missouri.
