Stamp Cancel Events

| On February 18, 2006 there was a special pictorial stamp cancel event at Seaside, OR commemorating the "Salt Makers Return" when members of the Lewis & Clark party went to the Seaside area to evaporate sea water to make salt to flavor and preserve the meat that they used for food.
On March 23, 2006 there was a special pictorial stamp cancel event at the Fort Clatsop site commemorating "The Return Home" when the Corps of Discovery left Fort Clatsop heading east to St. Louis. My thanks to Bill White and Gary Randall of Brightwood, OR who provided the photos. Row 1--#1-Post Office on beach at Seaside, #2-shelter for the men, #3-making salt, #4-boiling the water, #5-departure.
