Corp of Discovery II Campsite
November 11-15, 2005
Destination: The Pacific was one of the Signature Events scheduled for the Bicenntenial of the Corps of Discovery. It took place in Astoria, OR, Illwaco and Long Beach, WA.

The Corps of Discovery II re-enactors stayed at Chinook County Park just outside Chinook, WA. These re-enactors have been following the Lewis & Clark Corps of Discovery route since 2004. In the spring of 2006 they will return to St. Louis. During the winter they return to their homes. Several of them have been on the complete journey, while others have traveled parts of it.

Row 1--#1-two pine canoes made at Canoe Camp in Idaho, #2-making a canoe paddle, #3-paddle branded with Capt Lewis' brand, #4 & 5-heating the brand. Row 2--#1-3-branding some wood pieces, #4 & 5--clothing worn by the men. Row 3--#1-two re-enactors, #2-tent row, several blew down in the storm Saturday night, #3-5-medical tent and the medicine chest. Row 4--#1 & 2-the young man in charge of the medical display. He had traveled the whole distance from Camp Dubois. He was having trouble opening the bottom drawer because the dampness had swollen the wood.
