The Everett Aquasox, a High A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners play at Everett Memorial Stadium, which opened in 1984 and received a major upgrade in 2001, seating 3,682. It was a great night for baseball with the temperature at 75 degrees and 9 mph wind from the west. The Aquasox were playing the Spokane Indians. This was the same team that the Aquasox played on the first game of our Roadtrip. The final score was 4-1 with the Aquasox as the winners. The box score was Indians R-1, H-6, E-1 and Aquasox R-4, H-6, E-0. The field lines vary starting in RF-324', RC-345', CF-330', LC- 357', 359', 352', and LF-335'. This is a nice small stadium with a large field beyond the 1st baseline seating for children to run and play catch before and during the game. The floor of the seating area is aluminum which encourages fun stamping feet after Aquasox scores. Down each baseline are general admission bleachers. Down the first baseline is a party tent. Beyond the right field fence is a grass seating area. The Aquasox bullpen is down the first baseline just visible beyond the bleachers. There is a manual only scoreboard which is unusual at today's ball parks. They post a yellow 0 until a run is made or the inning ends. The mascot is Webley the Frog. The second one is Frank the Hot Dog. There are several between inning activities led by Steve: trying to catch pizza boxes in a fishing net; the usual ball under which hat; which wallet is the Capitol One credit card in (this can be seen on the left side of the photo of the scoreboard in the distance); a trivia baseball question; and rolling large dice. I've never taken a picture of the ball after the pitch in the catcher's glove. Our seats for this game were on the third base side in the first row behind the Aquasox dugout. Steve the Rubber Chicken Man gave us the seats since he couldn't attend the game. This is the picture with the fencing and silver rail. Usually, we sit above the concourse in Row 11. This was a quick game of one hour and fifty-nine minutes. Attendance was 1, 777. There are plans to build a new stadium closer to the downtown area to be completed for the 2027 season. Jim sent an email to Danny Tetzlaff, the General Manager, explaining our desire to end our Baseball Road Trip where we started on June 23, 2002. Thank you Danny for giving Jim an opportunity to throw out a first pitch. He threw the pitch to Brandon Elke, who was the DH for the game today. Brandon signed the ball for Jim. In the 4th inning Brandon hit a homerun that put Everett up 1-0. He is pictured in the last three photos in row 2.w A win for the Aquasox for our first Roadtrip game and the game to celebrate the end. The first pitch photos were taken by Aquasox photographer, Shari Sommerfeld. |
