The Wichita Wind Surge, a Double A minor league team, affiliated with the Minnesota Twins, play in the Central League North Division. They began playing at Equity Bank Park in 2021. This is a new ballpark in Wichita, previously the Wichita team played in Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. The new stadium is built on the same site as was Lawrence-Dumont. There is still construction being done down the 1st baseline in the right field corner. A parking garage is being completed across the street from left centerfield. The stadium seats 12,000 including the three berms on the 1st baseline, right field corner and right centerfield. There are 10,025 seats. The Wind Surge was playing the Springfield Cardinals losing 12 to 6. The Box Score was Springfield R-12, H-12, E-2 and Wind Surge R-6, H-9, E-2. The Cardinals had four homeruns, and the Wind surge had two homeruns. It was 91 degrees feels like 96 with high humidity. Attendance was 5,462. The mascot is Windy. Several between inning activities-dizzy bat race and little kid car race were two. Race between orange, apple, and watermelon. New type of individual fan attached to your smart phone, at present time $14 for 6-pack. The PA before the game and during the game was very loud. It made it hard to hear the person next to you. |

Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum, 204 S. Main St., occupies the renovated 1892 original city hall building. Area history from early settlement to the 20th century is presented. Exhibits include decorative arts, fashion, children's toys, musical instruments and recreated environments: a Victorian cottage, a 1910 drugstore and a 1920s garage with a 1916 Jones Six automobile. |
